UPDATE [Sep. 11th, 2005|09:03 pm]
The Order of the Stormcraft
[Stable yet... |lazylazy]
[If it's not Midwinter Storm, than it's probably.... |Anorexia Nervosa-- Solitude]

Yes, overdue, I know.

Ok, firstly, the deadline for the mailing list is passed. Everyone can expect their stuff in a few weeks.

The show's progression is going slowly, but there will be a practice this Saturday. Because of outside interference, I'm pushing the date back towards the end of October.

The next disc, "The View From Elysium", will be finished next month.

Midwinter Storm may be doing a split-CD with the band Black Dreams of the Apathetic Head Death. It will be an EP, and it will feature new songs from us both, as well as a song written together. Work in progress.

New songs on myspace. Go listen.

That's all because I'm lazy.

Long Awaited Update! [Aug. 27th, 2005|11:06 pm]
The Order of the Stormcraft
[Stable yet... |awakeawake]

Because of the forces of nature, progress with anything Midwinter Storm related was haulted temporarily. But hereafter, things are starting to move again.

There was a brief practice before the hurricane at Andrew's house, who has decided to play with us as our live drummer.

Hopefully, we'll be able to cover "When Faith is Sacrilege", "Sorcerer's Call", and "Frailty" next weekend with Richie and Lauren.

There isn't much else going on regarding new material as of yet, but the idea for the next disc was going to be Dark Ambient/New Age/Doom(?).

Opinions, comments, questions, declarative sentences?

[If it's not Midwinter Storm, than it's probably.... |Marduk-- With Satan and Victorious Weapons]

Starting today until the show, I will be rotating some of my greatest hits on myspace, along with one new song. If you are just becoming a fan, this is a good opportunity to catch up on old material and understand the roots of Midwinter Storm. The songs there now are from "In Search of the Foreverworlds", "Nightshade & Arsenic EP", and "The Captive Soul and the Divine Perception", and one new song from "The Conceiled Litanies" Compilation CD.

I'd like this community to be more active so support, support, support.

Loooooooong Awaited Update [Aug. 14th, 2005|10:42 pm]
The Order of the Stormcraft
[Stable yet... |blankblank]

It's been a while since I've updated, but here's what's been going on.

Firstly, the first rehearsal for the show is Saturday. The lineup is:

Myself on Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals
Lauren (_cementaryslut_) on Keyboards
Richie on Bass
And Andrew on Drums, but he's thinking about flaking ou, so I'm going to need a backup drummer to call just in case. I'll know by Tuesday, he says. :/

The rehearsal schedule is as follows:
I. Frailty
2. Desolation's Rest
3. What Night Hath Revealed
4. The Prophetic Dream
5. Sorcerer's Call
6. An Endless Fall
7. Angel
8. The Realm of Unhallowed Dreamscapes
9. When Faith is Sacrilage
10. The Great Invocation

The above listed songs are from "La Serpens Cantare De Miseria", "In Search of the Foreverworlds", "Desolation's Rest", "Retidus Ad Tenebrarum Snactuarium", and "Nightshade & Arsenic".

So far, we're going to book the show at Solid Sound Studios sometime hopefully in September.

The Next CD, "The Captive Soul and the Divine Perception", is not done yet, and is taking a while, mainly because other issues have to be addressed, but 5 tracks are done, so I'll update again when completeion is reached.

Lauren might become a permanent Keyboardist for Midwinter Storm, and would be the first permanent member in a year.

I've also gotten many CD requests from Sweden, Peru, The UK, and Norway, so our fan base is definitely growing!

Don't forget to check out Midwinter Storm on the metal archives and doom-metal.com. Just visit:

And the songs on myspace have changed since I last updated here, so make sure to support the band and listen at http://www.myspace.com/midwinterstorm

That's all for now. I want lots of feedback, so be sure to be active.

The news n'such [Jul. 25th, 2005|01:28 pm]
The Order of the Stormcraft
Well, "The Conceiled Litanies" is done and so is the dark ambient album "Into the Fathoms". The former consists of 21 tracks of various re-recordings, bonus songs, and experimental pieces, and also the cover songs of Cold, Switchblade Symphony, Dark Funeral, and some godawful band called Placebo. Most of the CD is instrumental, but that shouldn't surprise anyone-- it's always been that way.

I've gotten requests to do an interview for a doom-metal magazine in Peru! That's crazy. So now I have a fan base in Sweden and Peru, yet still no one in Florida knows who I am. By the way, if you've heard of this stupid band 'Deadstar Assembly', boycott them in the name of good taste, that's what I'm doing. The last thing the world needs is another talentless pop-synth-industrial noise band of discordant phone melodies and Marilyn Manson-esque vocals. Ew.

I'm seeking volunteers to build the 3rd website because due to techincal problems, I can't update the current one. If you're interested, let me know. There could be something in it for you.

In terms of the next CD, 'The Captive Soul and the Divine Perception', I've decided to pursue something more avant-garde-- ultimately, "Theatrical Metal". If you don't know what this is, get some Devil Doll. The idea will for me to write an hour long piece of ambient/doom/drone/synth Midwinter Storm goodness. I've never tried anything quite like this before, so I'm excited to get started. You could probably think of this Cd in the vein of 'The Prophet and the Jackal', in that it's all just one really long song, except this time, I'm not going to divide it into parts like I did before. More on that story as it develops.

Also, I uploaded a song I wrote about Porn Star Briana Banks on myspace. It's more black metal than anything, and you can't really tell what I'm yelling, but it's about a porn star so what else could there be to know?

I'm STILL planning the show. :/

Post ideas, comment thoughts.

[If it's not Midwinter Storm, than it's probably.... |Marduk-- Jesus Christ... Sodomized]

Well, the next CD is coming along well, and is sure to confuse everyone. I'm certain I'll have everyone wondering if I'm switching genres again, but it's all in the name of experimentation.

A while ago, I tried to upload "A Night in Purgatory" on myspace and it didn't work, but it's there now, so go to http://www.myspace.com/midwinterstorm for audial enlightenment.

I've gotten CD requests from Sweden, the UK, and Peru! That's nuts. The ironic thing is, no one here really knows about me, but whatever, there really isn't a market for Pagan Folk Music in America. I'll be mailing copies of Desolation's Rest off to Europe, and some of the recipients are CD reviewers for websites and magazines, so it will do great things for my publicity.

Don't forget, I'm on http://www.doom-metal.com and http://metal-archives.com, go look if you have not, and be sure to read the review for Desolation's Rest on the Metal Archives.

I thought this was interesting; a bit of fan mail on myspace ^__^:

"well ive only heard a few of your song so far since i just found you but what i like about the 3 you have on your page is they all place me in a different setting when i listen to them...of course what you intended and what i got could be completely different but here goes...
the first song puts me in the basement of some dark decrepid house...staring at a not so long dead girl....i havent figured out yet whether or not im the one who killer her but my guess is i just watched.
the second is almost a theme song for some horror movie from the 80's that would have a hitchhiker in it...i imagine knives and tupperware containers in his napsack...and he is wearing lipstick(pink)
the third sets me in a dream...where everytime i try to grasp ahold of something around me it dissapates and im left with nothing to hold on to.
they are quite lovely pices of music. i appreciate the fact that you actually let people download them...in this day and age everyone is so stingy.
but anyhow pleasant dreams.
oh and uh let me know if you can see my interpretations in your songs...
i like the last song best so far by the way."

It's obvious her and Greg learned to type at the same place. XD

But I thought that was really interesting. Kudos, Leslie.

Well, since only 2 people participated, the winner for my "Choose the cover" contest was Audrey, so I'll be covering "Something Rotten" by Placebo because communism is real. Ick.

Support the war against HTML! Midwinter Storm is proud to keep all their endeavors HTML free, because we respect the man with the mid-century computer.

Don't listen to industrial, it's for dumbasses and people in Ft. Lauderdale with no taste.

Ok, that's the news. I'll update again shortly.
